Dean Dornic, M.D
Dr. Dornic is one of the Carolinas’ most experienced and qualified refractive surgeons, having performed thousands of successful LASIK eye surgeries and other vision correction procedures at his Raleigh/ Durham NC area practice and nearby hospitals! He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained, vision correction specialist dedicated to the highest standards in ophthalmic surgery.
Dr. Dornic performs needle-free cataract surgery and laser assisted corneal transplants. He was selected as one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" by Consumer's Research Council of America and was named a LASIK Gold surgeon by Sightpath Medical. Newsweek recently named Dr. Dornic one of "15 Leaders in Laser Eye Surgery." He has been honored by Castle Connolly as a "Top Doctor" in the Raleigh-Durham region. Dr. Dean Dornic is the first Raleigh/ Durham-area ophthalmologist to perform IntraLase®, a revolutionary advance in LASIK that utilizes a laser rather than a metal blade to make the LASIK flap. He is also the first area ophthalmologist to perform Intacs®, and implantable contact lenses. Dr. Dean Dornic is an active member of the medical staff at Rex Health Care Center, WakeMed Cary Hospital and Johnston Memorial Hospital.
After completing his ophthalmology training at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, he underwent additional fellowship training in refractive surgery at the prestigious Sinskey Eye Institute in Santa Monica, California.
Dr. Dean Dornic brought his expertise in refractive surgery to North Carolina in 1998, and has been practicing here ever since. In addition to having a thriving LASIK eye surgery practice in Cary North Carolina, Dr. Dean Dornic is a recognized authority in vision correction procedures, having lectured at international meetings and publishing a book and various papers on ophthalmological topics. He is a featured expert on vision correction on the many websites and serves as a medical reviewer for the Journal of Refractive Surgery.
Franklin T. Li, M.D.
Franklin T Li, MD is a Board Certified ophthalmologist, eye surgeon, and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has particular expertise in cataract surgery using the most current intraocular lenses and sutureless surgical techniques. He also performs oculoplastic surgery for correction of eyelid abnormalities and provides treatment for a wide range of general ophthalmic conditions including trauma, glaucoma, eye infections, corneal ulcers, dry eye, and retinal disease.
Dr. Li and his family have happily lived in the NC Triangle area since arriving in 2008. He was born in Houston, Texas but later went to Los Angeles to receive his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California. There, he received the prestigious Trustee full-tuition scholarship and graduated from the Thematic Option Honors program magna cum laude in 2000 with a B.A. in Biological Sciences and minor in Psychology.
Dr. Li received his doctorate degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where he also pursued research in inherited corneal dystrophies. He has presented his findings at international meetings such as the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Li’s training continued with a one-year internship at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego. Here his research focused on the reliability of novel imaging machines used in the diagnosis of glaucoma. At graduation, he received the Outstanding Teacher award for his enthusiasm in educating and instructing medical students. Dr. Li also spent time traveling to Tijuana, Mexico to provide aid and perform eye surgery for children in underserved communities.
Dr. Li is a Chinese-American whose parents came from Hong Kong. He is married to his wife Jessica, who is a specialist in Infectious Diseases at UNC. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, traveling, playing with their daughter, and hiking with their two dogs.
Dr. Li currently holds active memberships in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
